About

Most people think of art as a painting, or sculpture, or anything you create. To me, art is a way of life; it is a way to look at everything around us in a new perspective, a way to expand children's creativity and to enhance their communication skills. At RAK Academy, art lessons go hand in hand with the other subjects taught to children in order for the child to experience the practical aspect of the subject, and s an elementary school art teacher, I always look for new ideas for my students, ideas that go with their ages, their abilities and their learning in the class.

At Rak Academy, we believe that art and design offer opportunities to

stimulate children's creativity and imagination by providing visual, tactile and sensory experiences and a unique way of understanding and responding to the world.

Art and design develop children's understanding of colour, form, texture, pattern and their ability to use materials and processes to communicate ideas, feelings and meanings. It helps to explore ideas and meanings in the work of artists, craftspeople and designers, and helps them learn about their different roles and about the functions of art, craft and design in their own lives and in different times and cultures. It eventually aids children in learning how to make thoughtful judgements and aesthetic and practical decisions and become actively involved in shaping environments.
